The Model Makers and Collectors Association was born out of exhibitions
held at the Derwent Entertainment Centre, and one of it's major objectives
was to hold similar exhibitions every two years.
Exhibitions were held every two years from 1992 up until 2010 after the financial
overheads exceeded the capacity of MMACA and Glenorchy Lions Club.
The exhibitions were a joint project of the Model Makers and Collectors Association Inc.
and the Lions Club of Glenorchy (City) Inc.
The proceeds from our Exhibitions always went to one of the Lions Club chosen charities.
Some of the recipients were been the Epilepsy Foundation,
the Whittle Ward, CanTeen, the Deaf Institute,
the Paediatrics Ward at the Royal Hobart Hospital, and the Heart Foundation Tasmania.
The Lions Club continues to be our patron body and assists us in many ways.
Between 1992 and 2010 the Exhibitions raised nearly $100,000 for charity.
